Intake and Outfall line at Quriyat Desalination Plant

Consolidated Union Contracting (CUC) was appointed as the marine contractor for the installation and commissioning of the intake and outfall pipeline system for a desalination plant in Quriyat, Oman. The project highlights CUC’s expertise in large-diameter HDPE pipelines, marine construction, and offshore installation works.

The scope involved the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of critical marine infrastructure to support the plant’s long-term operations.

The Scope of Work:

Design of the intake and outfall pipeline system
HDPE welding and testing of 3.8 km of 2400mm OD intake pipeline and 3.8 km of 1800mm OD outfall pipeline
Supply and installation of concrete ballast blocks
Offshore and onshore dredging, trench excavation, and backfilling works
Supply and installation of sheet piling systems
Installation of offshore and onshore HDPE pipelines
Bathymetric and videographic survey works
Supply and installation of two intake structures measuring 15m high and 5000mm in diameter
Supply and installation of the outfall diffuser system and intake navigational aids
Dewatering, testing, and commissioning of the complete system

Through careful planning, advanced equipment, and experienced personnel, CUC successfully delivered a robust seawater intake and outfall system that meets the demanding operational requirements of the Quriyat Desalination Plant.
